Exploration of the soul: between worlds

Journey of a multidisciplinary artist

Whispers from the unseen, drawn in

image, word, voice, and movement.

Art as spellwork.

Feeling as language.

A soul in translation.

Meet the artist

Hey, my name is Alyona

I'm a multidisciplinary artist and licensed arts psychotherapist, currently based in London, where I’ve been living for over five years.

My practice spans visual art, writing (short stories and poetry), singing in a folk choir, and exploring intuitive movement and embodiment. I intentionally stay off social media — but you can

explore my work and find recent news and updates here.

I’m always open to collaborations and creative conversations, so feel free to get in touch :) I’d love to connect!

Artist Statement

I am a multidisciplinary artist working with four core forms: visual art, writing, music and sound, and embodiment.

At the center of it all is the soul. I explore how the soul expresses itself through different languages—images, words, sounds, and movement.

As both an artist and a practicing art psychotherapist, I believe deeply in exploring the collective unconscious. That’s why I give special attention to another universal language—metaphor and symbol—a wider layer that connects and holds all the others.

Through this work, I reflect on the spaces between individuality and the collective, separation and connection, identity and lostness, the rational and the unknown, body and spirit, pleasure and pain.

Visual Portfolio

Below, I invite you to explore four series of my visual work. Gauzy Plane and Ink Creatures are my most recent and deeply cherished series — I feel especially passionate about them and update them regularly as they continue to evolve. Introspection and Colors from the Past reflect earlier stages of my practice, but they remain important and beloved parts of my journey.

Gauzy plane

Gauzy Plane explores a subtle realm — a dimension that exists beneath our everyday interactions with ourselves, others, and the world. It is always present, yet just out of reach of the eyes and hands — more easily felt with the heart.

In this series, pale blue-skinned, mask-faced figures represent the soul in its many strange adventures. These beings encounter symbolic characters and inner landscapes, drawn from dreams and spiritual experiences. Painted in acrylic and oil, these works are steeped in symbolism

and serve as windows into what lies beneath the surface of reality.

Ink creatures

Ink Creatures is a series born of intuition. In these works, I abandon rigid symbolism and allow forms to emerge freely through automatic drawing. Each creature is a visual incantation — a spell composed of lines and energy, shaped by a specific emotional state or intention.

Rather than illustrating concepts, these drawings channel inner experiences directly into image. They’re energetic beings woven from feeling, gesture, and instinct — a way of communicating without words, a quiet dialogue between subconscious and page.

Introspection

Introspection is a symbolic exploration of the emotional terrain we often keep hidden. Each piece reflects a personal struggle, memory, or question — some drawn from my own therapeutic process, others inspired by my work as a psychotherapist.

The themes are raw, intimate, and sometimes unresolved. Together, they form a portrait of humanness: vulnerable, conflicted, tender, and enduring. This series invites the viewer to witness what it means to feel deeply, to live through uncertainty, and to carry the weight and beauty of being alive.

Colors from the past

Colors from the Past breaks away from control and precision. In this series, I lean into expressive and abstract techniques — embracing mess and imperfection as creative tools.

These paintings are bold, sometimes even aggressive or childlike. They arise from an urge to connect with my shadow self — the hidden, raw, unrefined parts of me. Through wild color and unfiltered gesture, I search for honesty that can’t be reached through structure or symbolism. This is art as catharsis: messy, emotional, and unapologetically alive.
